We are working alongside New College Durham, and have access to a Funded Skills Bootcamp for Unemployed, Self Employed and Employed Individuals looking for a change in their career.

The retrofit advisor course is for professional who will be providing guidance and expertise on the process of retrofitting existing buildings or systems. They will get knowledge on what retrofitting involves, including the modifications or improvements to enhance the performance, energy efficiency, safety, or functionality of structures and equipment. The course has been written with employers to ensure relativity and provide the best possible learning experience.

The course covers:

  • Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments of existing buildings or systems to identify areas that require retrofitting.
  • Analysis: Analysing data related to energy consumption, structural integrity, safety standards, and other relevant factors to determine the most effective retrofit solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that retrofit plans comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Performing cost-benefit analyses to help clients understand the financial implications of retrofitting projects, including upfront costs and potential long-term savings.
  • Technology Integration: Staying updated on the latest technologies and solutions in retrofitting to recommend and implement cutting-edge and cost-effective approaches.
  • Project Management: Overseeing the implementation of retrofit projects, coordinating with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
  • Environmental Impact: Considering and advising on the environmental impact of retrofitting projects, promoting sustainability and green building practices.
  • Client Communication: Effectively communicating with clients to explain the rationale behind retrofit recommendations, addressing concerns, and providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks associated with retrofitting projects and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of retrofit projects, including plans, specifications, progress reports, and final evaluations.
  • Communication: Developing mutual beneficial relationships, negotiation, managing expectations, interpersonal skills, changing behaviour and emotional intelligence

If you are an employer wishing to upskill your staff, a contribution towards the learners bootcamp cost is applicable, please see detail below:

SME would be expected to contribute 10% which equates to £215.88 per learner.

Large employer would be expected to contribute 30% which would be £647.64 per learner.

The course will run in a two week block.

Start date is as follows:

Monday – 27/01/2025

You will be required for an Induction on 22nd January 2025.
