We are working alongside New College Durham, and have access to a Funded Skills Bootcamp for Qualified Plumbers to Upskill in Air Source Heat Pumps.
This air source heat pump (ASHP) bootcamp is for Plumbers and Domestic Heating Engineers who are looking to expand their knowledge in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits). This qualification could be used by operatives or individuals looking to join the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
Topics covered are:
- Basic principles of heat pump operation.
- Overview of different types of heat pumps.
- System Design and Sizing:
- Heat loss calculations.
- Sizing and selecting appropriate heat pump systems.
- Practical skills in installing air source heat pump systems.
- Understanding and following relevant regulations and safety procedures.
- Procedures for commissioning and testing air source heat pump systems.
- Troubleshooting common issues.
- Routine maintenance tasks for air source heat pumps.
- Identifying and addressing common maintenance issues.
- Understanding the environmental impact of heat pump systems.
- Strategies for optimizing efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
- Compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Health and safety considerations in heat pump installation.
- Integration with Existing Systems:
- Integration of air source heat pump systems with existing heating and cooling systems.

If you are an employer wishing to upskill your staff, a contribution towards the learners bootcamp cost is applicable, please see detail below:
SME would be expected to contribute 10% which equates to £220.25 per learner.
Large employer would be expected to contribute 30% which would be £660.75 per learner.
The course will run 1 Day a Week for 8 Weeks. Start dates as follows:
